!Battle System
Battles in Oathguard are fought using a standard turn-based RPG battle system, but there are a few features you may not be familiar with.
!!!!Battle Commands
Each character in Oathguard has the option to use skills from the Weapons or Heraldry command submenus in battle. Their equipment determines their options in the Weapon submenu, and each character will have their own unique set of skills in the Heraldry submenu.
There are also options to manipulate Willpower points (see below for details). The Focus option allows the player to recover a certain amount of WP, which is beneficial if he/she does not wish a character to Transform. Meanwhile, the Release option under Heraldry gives the player the option to quickly expend WP if he/she wishes to Transform the character quickly.
!!!!Willpower (WP) and Demon Transformation
A character's Willpower (WP) is depleted each time a Heraldry skill is used. The Focus and Release options may also be used to manipulate WP. Once WP falls below a certain percentage, however, the Transform option replaces Focus; too much power has been spent, and the character's demon side is taking over. WP will not be recovered for Heraldry use and Focus will not return until the Transformation period has been initiated and elapsed.
Transform changes the player into his/her demon form, which replaces Weapon with the Physical option (a single physical attack with a different characteristic, e.g. Edged or Piercing, depending on the character), and features different Heraldry skills. However, these skills, while often useful on their own, are limited to being of the element of the character (ie, Gela's demon form only has Terra offensive Heraldry). After 4 turns in demon form, the Revert option is the only option left, and the character reverts to human form. Heraldry is unusable for 3 turns after reversion, and is recovered after that.
!!!!Heraldry Characteristics
The celestial entities, or "elements," of Heraldry include Luna, Stella, Terra, and Noctis, each of which has a weakness to one of the other. Specifically:
*Noctis > Stella
*Terra > Luna
*Stella > Terra
*Luna > Noctis
Characters and enemies alike in Oathguard are aligned under one of these elements, and share that element's strengths and weaknesses.
!!!!Weapon and Armor Characteristics
Similarly, weapons have characteristics: Edged, Piercing, Blunt, Projectile, Explosive, and Vorpal.
Different Armor posses their own strengths and weaknesses against these weapon characteristics. Typically, harder armor will be strong against all types (except Vorpal), but weak to Piercing and incur a large Offense penalty. Softer armor will incur no strength penalties but grants no protection from any particular weapon type.
To get started with this blank TiddlyWiki, you'll need to modify the following tiddlers:
* SiteTitle & SiteSubtitle: The title and subtitle of the site, as shown above (after saving, they will also appear in the browser title bar)
* MainMenu: The menu (usually on the left)
* DefaultTiddlers: Contains the names of the tiddlers that you want to appear when the TiddlyWiki is opened
You'll also need to enter your username for signing your edits: <<option txtUserName>>
See also MPTW.

!!Usage
If you enter {ts} in your tiddler content (without the spaces) it will be replaced with a timestamp when you save the tiddler. Full list of formats:
* {ts} or {t} -> timestamp
* {ds} or {d} -> datestamp
* !ts or !t at start of line -> !!timestamp
* !ds or !d at start of line -> !!datestamp
(I added the extra ! since that's how I like it. Remove it from translations below if required)
!!Notes
* Change the timeFormat and dateFormat below to suit your preference.
* See also http://mptw2.tiddlyspot.com/#AutoCorrectPlugin
* You could invent other translations and add them to the translations array below.

da official wiki für Oat Guard
semper games
Oathguard is an RPG developed in Enterbrain's much venerated/loathed game creation studio, RPG Maker 2003.
!Gameplay
Game flow in Oathguard is the typical RPG fare of civilization -> dungeon -> civilization with cutscenes sprinkled in between, though the game becomes more open in Act III, when the player can chose the order of progression until a certain point. In addition, the player's choices in Oathguard, in branching dialogue and action, are numerous and influence what happens sooner or later in the game. Battles in Oathguard are turn based, a modified version of the default RM2k3 system featuring transformation of the characters into their demon forms, unique skills, and varied boss battles.
!Setting
(insert text here)
!Development History
Oathguard began its life as mellytan's first foray into novel writing in 2007. After thousands of words of worldbuilding and 70+ pages of the Oathguard novel written, mellytan despaired that it sucked, and sought some other creative outlet for its setting and characters. After seeing http://starlessumbra.com, mellytan decided that recreating the world and narrative of Oathguard in an RPG would be much more fruitful and reach a greater audience.
<<<
I first started this project in earnest just as I was about to enter college. The plot and setting were castaways from a novel I'd attempted to write in high school, shipwrecked on my shore of terrible storytelling. Though I couldn't write anything decent with them to same my life, neither could I get them out of my head. Ragequitting from novel-writing ... I resumed...using RPG Makers.
I told myself back then that my game would be the magnum opus of adolescence, my last youthful endeavor before I stepped out into the real world ... In other words, I wanted to be finished with my game before I graduated from college, to have it done and for the most part put behind me like so much collegiate alcoholism.
But for better or worse, "Project Oathguard" has had a mind of its own. Over last three years Oathguard has seen at least four reboots, three game engines, several project folders full of documents, reams of sketches, semesters of in-class scribbles in the narrow margins of notebooks, and thousands upon thousands of words written by me about it over the years- -most of which will never see the light of day. I planned and planned but I was never satisfied. Yet each new iteration improved upon the last, and I found myself visualizing more and more clearly what I wanted to do. Storylines, coding, spriting, and all the other elements were suddenly coming together.
Now, on the cusp of graduation, I finally seem to have settled on a unified vision, and have the project and my goals properly organized and prioritized. I see the finish line, and it is near as well as far. Victory looms like a wary dolphin on the horizon. ... In any case, my work continues, and I can only hope that one day it is all finished, or inspires someone else to follow their big ar pee gee dreams.
<<<
3 years later...mellytan's journey continues.
<<<
There was a lot of stuff from my "novel" that I wasn't able to incorporate into my game; ethnic features unique to certain regions, main characters that I couldn't think up party roles for (you can only have so many paladins), and a lot of flowery bluish-purple prose. But my vision of Oathguard as an almost melancholy world filled with unattractively flawed characters, moral ambiguity, and a rather predominately brown color pallet has not changed. As an "RM game," I wanted it to be all this in addition to being a reasonably unique and fun gameplay experience, with a few custom systems here and some attention to detail there. It is my hope that it will be a game to be remembered.
<<<
(See full verion posted in Oathguard's inaugural RMN blog post, http://rpgmaker.net/games/2846/blog/4323/.)
An Oathguard is someone who wields physical and Heraldic powers derived from a supernatural source. While their powers are in fact linked to the demon soul remnants that lie within their own, various other explanations for their abilities are widespread.
Without exception, Oathguards belong to a certain group of houses, each of which can trace its history back to no more or less than about 800 years—to the time when the being known as Thasa was said to have lived. Each house is categorized as either a “Descendant” or “Hero” House. Depending on which kind of house an Oathguard belongs to, he/she will have either stronger willpower against (Hero) or stronger link to (Descendant) the demon remnants within his/herself.
The typical upbringing, societal status, and even abilities of an Oathguard can vary from nation to nation. In Sinolor, the Oathguards are the servants of the state, their lives largely controlled by the government they serve; in Thassadia, they rule the state and belong to the highest caste in society; and in the south, it is said that the princes of the theocratic Sudernia count Oathguards among their ancestors, and worship them as demigods. The few who live outside the rule of these nations are typically traitors of Sinolor or Thassadia, or are “Unsanctioned.”
!Etymology
The natives of Ancient Sinolor held oaths and promises in reverent regard—its pantheon of heroes was filled with vassals who kept their word at great peril to themselves but without recompense, and breaking an oath sworn with one's family's name was grounds for execution. When Thasa first came to Sinolor with her retinue of aids, who followed her every order without any kind of reward or compensation, the natives thought they must have sworn a sacred oath to her and by her. Their generally martial nature and Thasa's tendency to always keep a few of them by her side at all times naturally gave rise to the name “Oathguard” being commonly used among the people. And, oddly, the so-called Oathguards nor Thasa did not seem want to correct them, almost as if that had been their name all along.
In Sinolor, following Florius I's secularization program that sought to eradicate any trace of Thasa's influence, the term Oathguard was said to originate from the oath of fealty they pledged during the Imperial Court Era. This explanation persists to this day.
The plural Oathguards does not refer to them as an organization (as they might have been when they all served Thasa),
!History
!Biology
Holding the use of their projection and Heraldic abilities constant, Oathguards have the same anatomical appearance as normal humans. While physical descriptions of the earliest Oathguards is vague at best, it is safe to say that the areas that they have inhabited since then have altered their appearance somewhat; for example, while these descriptions say that their ancestors were of light skin and uniformly tall height and build, today Oathgaurds hailing from the southern provinces of Sinolor tend to have darker skin and thinner builds than those from the northern.
Physiologically it is much the same story; however, an Oathguard's house type (Hero or Descendant), individual nature, and use of his/her powers will have a direct effect on his/her health. In all studies and observations, stronger powers and/or their extensive use is inversely correlated to lifespan; as a result, most Oathguards tend to live only ¾ as long as the average normal human at best, half as much in the most extreme cases. In addition, this means that Oathguards of Descendant Houses tend to live shorter lives than those of Hero Houses.
Measures taken to combat the negative effects of Oathguards' use of their powers vary by nation. In Sinolor, a rigorous program of drugs developed and administered by the government's Defense Development Department (D3) is used to limit Oathguards' use of their powers, thus resulting in an increased lifespan. In Thassadia, mysterious machines are used to rejuvinate Oathguards' health and prevent their demon soul remnants from taking over, even ensuring that Oathguards need not fear their lives being shortened by using their powers.

Sinolor is a fictional country in Oathguard, and the center stage for most of the events in the game. Its capital city is Annecey (located in the selfsame province). Its population is 115 million, making it the second most populous country on the Adonic Continent, next to Heiml.
!History
!!!!Etymology
The name “Sinolor” is derived from the ancient Suramasin word for "homeland." It originally belonged just to the land the native Sinolorese people occupied, but after their assimilation of surrounding lands and peoples following Florius I's reign, it became the common name under which they were united.
The prefix of “Sinol-” is typically used in the nomenclature of terms relating to Sinolor, such as Sinolology (study of Sinolor) and Sinol-Heimli (referring to the relation of Sinolor to the bordering nation of Heiml).
!!!!Early History
Though Ancient Sinolor's officially recorded history began only 805 years ago, much is known about pre-Ancient Sinolor, thanks to the early development of its writing system and a bureaucracy that prided itself on its scholarly achievements. What's more, the time before this is almost as well-recorded, as archaeologists continue to find well-preserved remnants of the Ancient Sinolorese people's origins as fierce hunter-gatherer wanderers, who eventually settled down to form the nation of Ancient Sinolor (not to be confused with Sinolor, which is the nation as it stands today) in the fertile lands of what is now called the Barsique Valley. Though it would accumulate more and more land over the decades, it was at this time a relatively small nation in the center of the continent, and was prone to infighting among its tribes. This constant warring eventually resulted in

!!!!!Dynastic Era
One of the first recorded periods of history in the wake of Sinolor's first civil war is the Dynastic Era, during which several dynasties rose and fell as the ruling powers of Ancient Sinolor. At this time, the Sinolorese occupied only their native lands and a small mount of conquered territory. Ren Tai-ren, a patriarch of one of the land's most powerful tribes, became the famous Redemption Emperor by driving the nomads of the south and the barbarians of the east out of the middle of the land to reestablish the Empire of Sinolor. Known as the Lithe Tiger for his swiftly fought—and ever-victorious—battles, he fell only when he died suddenly of illness without a successor, leaving his uncle, named Tuol Fan-lic, to take over. Tuol would go on to assimilate some more territories, and was not a bad ruler; but despite his victories, as a dour man who loved little, he lacked charisma and likability.

!Geography and Topography
In terms of physical geography, Sinolor is quite mountainous, with major ranges to both the west (which act as a natural border between it and Thassadia), the north (between it and Heiml), and the east (between it and Ralbinas). The rivers that criss-cross the continent nourish the fertile plains of central Sinolor, while vast sandlands cover the southernmost part of the country. Its natural defenses and abundant resources make Sinolor a relatively self-sufficient, if quite isolated, nation.
As for topography, again thanks to its sheer size, Sinolor is home to many climates. In the north, the weather is rather mild, with heavy but manageable snows in the winter (which get less manageable the higher the altitude is); farther southeast, the climate is hot and humid, with heavy summer rains; and to the southwest, the weather is often arid and dry. Sinolor's only deserts exist in the far south, at its borders with Sudernia and Ralbinas. (Another natural defense.)
!!!!Banda Mountain Range
Lying between Sinolor and Heiml, it acts as a natural border between the two traditionally hostile nations. Its unforgiving winter snows melt to a relatively warm spring and summer, and its biodiversity has always been a subject of interest. However, its distance from most hubs of civilization on either side of the border, coupled with its treacherous winding paths, make it a place to avoid (for all but the authors of survival novels).
Both coutnries keep outposts at various locations around the base of the Banda Range on their respective sides, but the sheer length of the range in either direction ensures that there is plenty of unguarded space in between.
!Demographics
Today, the total population of Sinolor stands at about 115 million people, with 35% of people living in rural areas and a majority living in urban areas. Many still live by the fruits of the land or excavating the raw materials that are in high demand, but an increasing number of people have went to work in the industrialized production of goods, or provide services.
By nature of its geographically massive size and acquisition of many lands, Sinolor counts among its people 50 minorities in 13 provinces and 3 autonomous regions. As such a diverse country, there are many different outlying ethnic groups, and cultures (which has lent itself to no small amount of conflict).
The ethnic minorities in modern Sinolor arise mainly from the peripheral countries that the original Ancient Sinolor assimilated during Florius I's age of conquering; 12% of modern Sinolor includes areas not natively “Sinolorese,” many of which have a few indigenous ethnicities. The densest concentration of non-native Sinolorese, however, is in former Suderanian province of Banjar, where over 30% are at least a quarter Sudernian by blood.
!!!!Language
In terms of language, “Sinolorese” is a bit of a misnomer. Suramasin, which virtually all native-born citizens speak, is the blanket name for the "standardized" national language of Sinolor. However, Ubom and Sattalom, the dialects of the east and south respectively, are also still widely spoken in their respective areas. Languages of non-native citizens from countries like Suderia are also spoken, but very moderately (integration and adoption of Suramasin by foreigners is strongly encouraged). The exception to this rule is the Banjar province; with its high concentration of native and descendant Sundernians, despite discouragement, Suderlom is heard as frequently as Suramasin.
For at least two thousand years prior to Florius I's reign, what is now referred to as Ancient Suramasin, and subsequently, Old Suramasin, were spoken. The latter emerged when so many Heimlian loan words entered the Sinolorese vocabulary such that over 15% of Suramasin in fact consisted of them.
During Florius I's reign, in which he enforced the learning of his dialect, Cunégondian (already close to Suramasin because of Heiml's Cunégonde Canton's close physical proximity to Sinolor proper), what is now called Modern Suramasin emerged. In addition to having to learn Cunégondian, Sinolorese adopted the phonetic Heimlian alphabet in place of their own complicated pictorial one. This lead to a further integration of the new language into Suramasin; Sinol-Heimlian loan words were especially adopted because the Sinolorese discovered that to write many of their complicated sounds, they would need to create still more letters. Thus, most of the native Sinolorese words left in the language are the ones that could be easily written in the adopted Heimlian alphabet. However, how "pure" the Suramasin that is spoken depends on where in Sinolor one is; near the capital, mostly Cunégondian is spoken; outside, more native words are spoken. Legal documents are now all in Cunégondian (whereas before it was the opposite).
Today, Modern Suramasin consists of a somewhat even mix of about 45% Sinol-Heimlian loan words, 50% Native Sinolorean words, and <5% other foreign words (from Sudernia, etc). Theoretically, all Sinolorese citizens who completed their mandatory education can read, write, and speak fluent Cunégondian. In practice, only those who went on to advanced institutions of learning and/or those who use Cunégondian in their everyday life can do so.

!Political Divisions (Provinces and Autonomous Regions)
Sinolor is divided into 13 Provinces and 3 Autonomous Regions. Each is granted a number of delegates in the Regency proportionate to their population size. The nationwide census administered by central government has been taken every 10-13 years for the last 115.
Provinces and Autonomous Regions are governed by a prefect and a body of provincial regents, who handle provincial matters without much meddling from the central government. However, they are in no way sovereign, and answer directly to Annecey in all major matters.
Autonomous Regions are provinces within which a minority (meaning people not of mostly ethnic Sinolorese blood) entity is the majority. These regions, like provinces, have their own local government, but theoretically have more legislative rights. In practice, however, they only have the right to appoint the governor from the local minority. An ethnic Sinolorese Ordinator elected in and dispatched from Annecey to help "keep order" is the real power base in each of the "autonomous" regions.
Sinolor's main city centers (collectively known as the "Big Three" Cities) lie in the heart of the capital province, Annecey Province (known before the Unification as the original Sinolor Province), as does the majority of its wealth, power, technology, and population.
!!!!List of Provinces
Most locations in Sinolor have either been founded or renamed with Heimlian names, and there are very few places today that retain distinctly native names. Exceptions to these include provinces such as Chongla and cities such as Wuhan and Tam-gi, but many seek to rename even these (Tam-gi is slated to be renamed “Havreberghe,” after its harbor).

!!!!Autonomous Regions
Yeeh Autonomous Region has traditionally been the most troublesome area for Sinolor's central authorities, due to its location and population; it lies in close proximity to the nation of Sudernia (which a vast majority of Yeeh citizens claim is their true homeland), Banjar Province (where many citizens are Sudernian by blood and wish to secede from Sinolor and unify with Sudernia), and the nation of Thassadia (which is said to fund Yeeh rebels to fuel instability in the region).
Recently, industrial towns in Manasseh Autonomous Region (including the capital, Silriah) have seen an economic downturn thanks to the Baclem Province's increased self-sufficiency in the area of agicultural equipment production; this threat to the Manasseh people's livelihoods has increased their resentment towards Milnon, Baclem Province, and Sinolor as a whole.
There are four autonomous regions in Sinolor: Jerang Petal, Manasseh, Veersa, and Yeeh.
!!!!The "Big Three" Cities of Annecey Province
Most of the population and its central government is concentrated around the capital, Annecey, and its province (also called Annecey). Annecey Province also contains the other two of the "Big Three" cities, Beauclarc and Poton. The people of this area, via come from all over Sinolor, but approximately 85% are "ethnic Sinolorean" (meaning, descendant from the people who lived in Sinolor before King Florius I began his conquest the surrounding "non-Sinolorese" lands).
Annecey has been the crown jewel of Sinolor for almost the entirety of its history. Only during the

Beauclarc, lying due north of the capital, is known as the City of Cathedrals. For a very brief time during the Warring Church Period, it even supplanted Annecey as the seat of power in Sinolor. While it was once the destination of hundreds of thousands of religious pilgrims per year, it is now just an extremely popular tourist city. 30 years ago, the beggars who once lined the streets and benefited from pious pilgrims' pockets were ushered into the nearby shanty town of

!!!!The "Small Two" Cities
Known widely as the "Small Two" Cities (an allusion to the Big Three), Tam Gi and Milnon have earned their distinctions by seeing remarkable rapid growth in the last hundred years or less, largely due to their flourishing businesses, trade, and provincial social welfare programs.
Tam Gi (Chongla Province) grew from unknown fishing village to a small city and economic powerhouse when King Alain VII implemented his plan to tighten control and increase loyalty around Sinolor's newly acquired provinces by funding their economic growth. He sent a young economist (called a "marketeer" in those days), who history only knows by his famous surname, Wati, to supervise the village's growth. Wati discovered that Tam Gi was the perfect gateway to both Heiml and Sinolor's eastern seaboard and, within a few years and despite persistent military tensions in the area, established a booming trade business between Tam Gi and various seaports in the northern country of Heiml. 112 years later, Wati Company is now the second largest merchant body in Sinolor, and has lead to such prosperity that Tam Gi is now know as one of the "Small Two" cities.
Milnon (Baclem Province) lies in the fertile grasslands of Baclem. Once home to wandering nomad tribes, when the land in this area peacefully came under the influence of their Sinolorese conquerors, all but the most stubborn tribes settled down in the Sinolorese-founded towns that cropped up—the most populous being Milnon. While it took a few generations for the former nomads to adjust, thanks to their adaptive people's green thumbs and hard-working nature, a booming population all around Sinolor in need of more food, and the adoption of transportation systems that could carry their crops anywhere in the country, Milnon gradually became the center of agricultural production in Sinolor. Over 65% of Sinolor's crops come from the city's surrounding lands and townships, and Milnon itself has recently seen the rise of its own farming machinery and equipment production industry. This has, however, damaged its relations with the industrial towns in Manasseh Autonomous Region that it formerly did more business with, and even threatens the Manasseh people's livelihoods.

!Politics
!!!!Government Institutions
A provincial system of local government divides Sinolor into 16 provinces, including three autonomous regions. Each province is governed by a prefect and a body of provincial regents, who handle provincial matters without much meddling from the central government. However, they are in no way sovereign, and answer directly to Annecey in all major matters. Thus, despite their name, the autonomous regions are also still ultimately under the control of the central government. Recently, though, lands controlled by high noblesse families have been trying to become more and more independent, and so each area even within the same province can have a vastly different system of self-government or even a different form of economy.
Sinolor's central government, seated in the capital of Annecey, is split between 3 branches; the Regency, the Noblesse Assemblage, and the Royal House. They are depicted in state media to wield roughly equal power, but both in theory and practice the Regency by far has the most control over the important policies of the nation.
The Regency consists of representatives from each of the provinces (called Regents in the context of their Regency). These officials devise and enact policy, in part at the behest of their provinces' local assemblies or their specialist advisors, but ultimately make their own decisions as for how the country will be run. They convene with their own advisors every weekday and consult each other in person during a formal meeting four times a year. As they have the power to dissolve the Noblesse Assemblage, as well as the unspoken power to overturn any propositions of the Royal House, they are by far the most powerful branch of government. Some would go so far as to say that they have absolute power over the country. (But those people would most likely find a brick in their living room the next morning.)
The Noblesse Assemblage consists of 335 representatives, one from each of the country's noble houses (including all the Oathguard houses, but excluding peerages created less than 50 years ago). Each is chosen internally by the houses themselves. They hold veto power over the Regency, though it is very limited. At its inception as a part of the rebuilding plan of the Unification, it was just a skinny bone thrown to placate the noble and Oathguard families, who had of course turned the power over their feudal lands to the new Sinolorese government. Because of the number of members, it was an unwieldy assembly that regularly either dissolved into chaos or wallowed in apathy. However, especially within the last few decades, it has become significantly more powerful and cohesive. Certain families with similar interest began to form block coalitions, thus wielding a strong united vote; furthermore, some houses have actually been holding public elections to choose their representative, using the people's increasingly democratic sentiments to fuel their growing power. On the other hand, some houses have been striving to return to the old ways, managing their lands and citizens as if they were territories and serfs.
The Royal House branch is the smallest and least powerful body of government, as the monarchy has no actual power. A relic of ancient times past, it consists of all members of the royal bloodline of Florius over the age of 20. This typically amounts to around 9 people. These members convene monthly to discuss the state of the nation with the regency and sign documents into law, but they in fact hold no veto power over the Regency or, ironically, the Noblesse.
The Department of Defense Development, commonly abbreviated to D3, is a (loosely-termed) department of the central government that answers to the bloc of Regents known as the Homeland Defense Commissar (which Regents Niko Falma and Tan Xjian belong to, among others). Officially, they are the hub of military research and development in the country, overseeing all of Sinolor's military production. Unofficially, they oversee all aspects of Oathguard development and deployment.
!!!!Military
What Sinolor lacks in the unity of its people it makes up in the sheer size and cohesion of its military might. On the surface its military has 3 branches: Army, Navy, and the newly-created (or rather, newly-publicly-announced) Aerial Division. The standing army is undoubtedly the standout among the three, but Sinolor's Navy is nothing to sniff at, either. (Its Aerial Division, however, is still in its infancy.)
Each branch of the military is headed by its respective Chief of Staff, all of whom answer to D3. Regent Martin Barriere, a retired 4-star general, is the main liaison between the D3 and the Chiefs of Staff.
In addition to its standing military, the government also quietly has under its employ a substantial secret police network and the Oathguards, both which have been just as instrumental as the regular military in the current regime's retainment of power.
Recently, the traditional ranks of the army have been thinned out, as the government is cutting costs at all possible places to continue the funding of D3's extremely expensive research projects. This release of so many soldiers with no job skills and no other honest trade to turn to has lead to a surge in the reported numbers of bandits and pirates preying on the populace of the countryside.
!!!!Domestic Conflict
By nature of its geographically massive size, Sinolor is home to many diverse peoples. Among the 17 provinces, there are many different outlying ethnic groups, and cultures. This diversity has been a source of quiet but never-ending strife between the central Sinolorese government and provinces that seek some degree of sovereignty—or even to secede from the nation completely. Military outposts and bases around Sinolor keep these provinces in check by any means necessary—a split could not only mean a loss of a source of a resource, but more importantly would also damage the country's pride.
Conflict is typically more prevalent the farther away from the capital you travel. It seems particularly rife within the peripheral provinces that border Sudernia and Ralbinas (such as the Banjar province), as well as the autonomous regions (particularly in the Yeeh Automous Region capital of Har-Fei).
On a micro level, however, because of the Sinolorese propensity for valuing order, discrimination is discouraged because of the tension it can elicit; everyone is expected to work well with everyone else.In practice, of course, tensions simmer underneath the surface, especially in regions containing people of conflicting cultural values and where people have varying degrees of loyalty to Sinolor.

The release of so many soldiers with no job skills and no other honest trade to turn to has lead to a surge in the reported numbers of bandits and pirates preying on the populace of the countryside.
!!!!Foreign Relations
As an imposing, self-sufficient, and largely self-centered nation with an iron federal governement, besides simmering internal conflict there has always been another constant in modern Sinolor's history—broiling international conflict.

probably unfinished idk i just copypaste this stuff
Pre-Thasa (~85 BT – 1 TC)
Over 900 Years Ago (~85 BTC)
Dynasties preside over Ancient Sinolor.
820 Years Ago (5 BTC)
A small group of Shedu arrive in Ferenheims (Ancient Heiml)
The Shedu easily subdue and/or placate the native humans with their advanced technology and power.
They found their seat of power, Vyzov Rog.
With the Shedu backing Ferenheims' advancement, the countries around Sinolor soon fall to it.
815 Years Ago (0 BTC/1 TC)
Thasa and her OGs arrive from Rallon to save Sinolor Ferenheims about to invade.
Thassadic Century (1 TC – 90 TC)
815 Years Ago (1 TC)
Thassadic Calendar begins this year, to mark Thasa's coming to Sinolor.
Thasa begins to aid Sinolor in advancement and defense against Ferenheims and the Shedu
The Church of Thasa is founded despite its “deity's” reluctance.
Thassadia (later called Beauclarc; of no relation to the country of Thassadia founded in 293) is founded.
810 Years Ago (5 TC)
Ferenheims is completely driven out of Sinolor.
A few Oathguards become compromised after the fighting, and go to Ferenheims; these rouge OGs become allies with the Shedu there.
Chongla, freed by Thasa and Sinolor, willingly becomes part of Sinolor.
The capital of Sinolor is moved from Annecey to Thassadia.
Oathguards adopt names from the regions they were assigned to.
The Assimilation begins.
Countries around Sinolor assimilated peacefully thanks to the promise of advancement and strength guaranteed by Thasa's presence.
Unified standard of writing, language, measurements, currency, etc implemented.
“Sinolization” of assimilated nations and peoples imposed by Sinolorese.
Sinolorese culture imposed.
Church of Thasa enforces worship of Thasa.
Ironically, population becomes very heterogeneous (ethnically, culturally) with so many different peoples assimilated.
Thasa does not approve of Sinolization but does not do much to dispel it.
Church of Thasa missionaries find success in Sudernia, though the Sudernians refuse to become part of Sinolor.
795 Years Ago (20 TC)
Shedu/Ferenheims attacks flare up again, spurred on by the rouge OGs who joined them.
Beolai Guntur Yala, twin of Bocheul and one of Thasa's ablest Oathguards, shows signs of Compromisation after a fight with one of the rogue OGs; this is alarming to Thasa as Compromisation cannot be reversed outside Rallon; his willpower and dedication to Thasa are all that keep him in control.
Thasa creates two Oathguards, Guntur and Bocheul (Yala), to replace him.
Beolai, feeling betrayed, allows himself to be compromised.
The soul in him was Eleheiml.
Beolai/Eleheiml goes to the capital of Ferenheims, Vyzov Rog.
Thasa begins the creation of new Oathguards to replace those like Guntur who may soon be compromised.
Guntur, feeling betrayed, allows himself to be compromised.
The soul in him that takes over is Eleheiml's.
Guntur, now Eleheiml, goes to the capital of Ferenheims, Vyzov Rog.
Thasa creates additional Oathguards.
792 Years Ago (23 TC)
Eleheiml has gained full control of Vyzov Rog and all of Ferenheims' resources.
He plans an invasion of Thasa's Sinolor.
781 Years Ago (34 TC)
First War of Thasa begins.
Eleheiml launches a land and sea invasion using Ferenheim's army, navy, and the Shedu.
Thasa repels them from Chongla again and establishes a base in southernmost Ferenheims (Cunegondia).
Ferenheims, with its smaller but more powerful force, holds its ground.
Becomes a battle of attrition at the Ferenheims border.
758 Years Ago (57 TC)
Battling has continued in ebbs and flows.
Thasa/Sinolor is pushed out of Ferenheims completely by a force lead by House Domtrau.
755 Years Ago (60 TC)
Just as Ferenheims seems likely to strike out and gain yet more ground, a plague breaks out among its human forces.
753 Years Ago (62 TC)
Guntur and Bocheul Yala lead a charge against the weakened Ferenheims forces lead by the Domtraus, and successfully defeat them, killing the head of the Domtrau house.
A peace treaty is signed between the human leaders.
First War of Thasa ends.
Thasa, planning for something, begins creating more Oathguards (later they would be known as the Hero Houses).
734 Years Ago (81 TC)
The makeup of the Oathguards begins its first changes.
Oathguards that originally came with Thasa begin to die off.
Their children, the first “native generation,” is too few and inexperienced.
The Hero OGs are still being developed.
729 Years Ago (84 TC)
Last Commands
Thasa finishes delegating everything to her Oathguards and the human leaders of Sinolor. She gradually fades from the public view.
Eleheiml makes similar arrangements in Heiml.
723 Years Ago (90 TC)
A Sudden End
Thasa vanishes.
Eleheiml vanishes.
The Thassadic Century ends.
Imperial Court Era (91 TC – 164 TC)
722 Years Ago (91 TC)
The Falma Dynasty
Church sets up descendants of Ancient Sinolor's Falma dynasty as puppet rulers.
Cei Falma becomes Empress.
People are told that Thasa decreed that she would watch over Sinolor in her absence.
Transferals of Power
Oathguards serve the church, but not as ardently as they did Thasa herself.
Clergymen were appointed to the most important positions and areas.
Meanwhile, those sent to the peripheral areas are lesser civil servants and military men.
Some border tensions with in the south with Sudernia arise.
Leadership became increasingly factionalized.
694 Years Ago (119 TC)
Sudernians, believing that Sinolor has lost Thasa's favor, set up their own “true” Church of Thasa (Dhasa in Suderni), and marched on a crusade into Sinolorese territory.
They were peacefully let into some of the southern territories that sympathized with them.
Second War of Thasa begins.
693 Years Ago (120 TC)
The Sinolorese unite in the face of the invasion and easily quell it.
Second War of Thasa ends.
Enmity between the two would remain for a long time.
The conflict with and victory over Sudernia temporarily united the nation, but soon the old wounds and ambitions would come to the surface once again.
Warring Church Era (164 TC – 283 TC)
649 Years Ago (164 TC)
A military coup is instigated by the marginalized military prefects and their disgruntled constituents. Civil war erupts.
Cei Falma is killed along with much of his family; the Falma house goes into hiding.
Provinces with ethnic minorities also take this opportunity to rebel and try to seek independence from Sinolor.
The church attempts to reunite the country from its seat in the capital by any means necessary.
Sinolor as a nation continues only in the capital and around it in where the church still holds power; elsewhere, many provinces splinter off into their own protectorates.
The church still continues to try and exert its power over the provinces.
However, most Oathguards finally refuse to serve them, and establish power bases of their own around the country.
Occasionally fighting stops, but no formal truce or treaty is ever signed.
A dark age settles over the divided country.
552 Years Ago (261 TC)
After almost a century of war, famine, and general lawlessness, a man of the Cundegondian (southern Heimlian) line of ancient human Kings, known to history only by his given name of Florius, comes into Sinolor with tens of thousands of his people, fleeing from their cruel Shedu masters.
To persuade those in power in Chongla to let him stay, Florius gives the gifts he and his people brought.
The most important of which is the advanced (and stolen) Shedu technology from Heiml.
538 Years ago (275 TC)
Instead of returning with forces fit to fight for Cunegondia's freedom, Florius remains in Chongla, spreading the use of “Cunegondian” (Shedu, really) technology.
He gains a large power base in Chongla, soon gaining influence in Annecey.
533 Years ago (280 TC)
Rode the tide of resentment towards the Church and gained control of Sinolor.
530 Years ago (283 TC)
Florius moves towards agreements with other leaders.
Move to unite Sinolor.
The Sinolorese make Florius “king”; he weds a woman from the Falma line of Emperors.
Falma family comes out of hiding.
Reign of Florius (283 TC – 404 TC)
530 Years ago (283 TC)
Fighting flares up in areas that will not accept Florius' rule.
Meanwhile, Sudernia attempts to invade during Sinolor's infighting.
Florius is advised to make what Oathguard allies he can, and use the ones at his disposal.
Victory and a more or less united Sinolor follows.
Florius is unnerved by the Oathguards' power and their free reign, and resolves to find a way to limit the OGs' powers when they were not needed to combat Heiml.
527 Years ago (286 TC)
A small group of Oathguards fight for independence against Florius.
Half remain on Florius' side and a fight largely among Oathguards breaks out.
In the wake of all the fighting, 1/3th of all OGs are Compromised.
This decimated their ranks, and added to Heiml's.
Though they were put down soon enough, there is much alarm, especially on the part of Florius and his new government.
526 Years ago (287 TC)
The Secularization
Florius champions a new age of “reason”
Church banned, etc
523 Years ago (290 TC)
The Suppression
A paranoid Florius contracts Cegrose, a Shedu thaumaturgist from Heiml, to suppress the OGs' thaumaturgic powers.
Many obey and have it done to them willingly.
This “Suppression” limits their powers; brands them with a heraldic symbol of their house through which they must channel thaumaturgic power.
Oathguards' titles and honors are mostly taken away, and their houses' property is made that of the state's.
The Dawn Coup
A group of 1/3 the OGs in Sinolor revolt against the Suppression before it is complete.
Among them were two leaders:
Guntur III
He had split with his brother, Bocheul III, who remained in Sinolor.
Eldim
With numbers against them, the coup is unsuccessful.
Guntur III's camp flees west, past the Banda Mountain Range.
Eldim's camp flees east.
522 Years ago (291 TC)
Founding of the D3
Group that helped Cegrose carry out the Suppression.
Conduct experiments on coup conspirators.
520 Years ago (293 TC)
Thassadia's Founding
Guntur III's camp successfully subdues the natives and founds Thassadia.
Ralbinas' Founding
Eldim and his camp found Ralbinas.
Oath Order's Founding
Former members of the Church and other normal humans who did not agree with the Suppression form the Oath Order with some Oathguards.
The OO registers itself as a fake religious entity to avoid prosecution.
It is not very active but its members' meetings and exploits are well-documented.
490 Years ago (323 TC)
The Death of Florius I
System of government that he wishes to be be implemented after his death is drawn up; it is relatively republican in nature and not hereditary.
Despite this, Florius II ascends the “throne” at age 19 thanks to support.
Tries to emulate his father, and inadvertently succeeds; he is less paranoid and easier to manipulate, so his advisers run the country as Florius I would have.
The Regents
The advisers of the House Florius become known as Regents and form a formal body to run the country.
430 Years ago (393 TC)
The Death of Florius II
Florius dies at the age of 79.
His son, aged 60, ascends and tries to undo the damage done to royal authority, but the Regents prove too powerful.
441 Years ago (404 TC)
The Death of Florius III
Florius III dies.
Changes to the Government
The Regents revive Florius I's plans for a republic and use it to abolish the reign of Florius' dynasty.
This federal system consists of a Regency, a a House Noblesse, and a House of Provincials, with the Regency at the head.
The Oathguards are given more freedom and power, and their property and titles are restored.
The Dwindling of the Oath Order
Most OGs and normal humans are satisfied with the arrangements under the new government, and the usefulness of the OO without Florius' threat dries up.
What Becomes of Florius' Line
Some of the remaining members begin using the Falma name again.
Emergent Age (405 TC – 682 TC)
439 Years Ago (406 TC)
The New Government Tries to Woo Thassadia
Sinolor tries to open diplomatic relations with Thassadia, eager to open up trade.
Thassadia does not cooperate, knowing that Sinolor is after its minerals used in armament production.
Sentiment in Sinolor leans towards subjugating Thassadia.
Oathguards are also in favor, being eager for a chance to prove themselves and gain power in the new government.
435 Years Ago (410 TC)
Heiml invades Thassadia.
Sinolor, seeing this as a great opportunity, gears up to invade Thassadia as well.
The Fortnight War
Sinolor's military finds it hard to cross the Banda range, with its provisions.
Only 40% make it through.
Brief light skirmishes between the Thassadians occur.
Soon the Sinolorese military convinces the government that it would be wiser to aid Thassadia in repelling Heiml.
It is agreed that if Heiml succeeds in taking Thassadia, Sinolor will have to wage a 2-front war with Heiml.
Sinolorese and Thassadian envoys meet and sign a treaty.
The Sinolorese claim that this was their plan all along.
After this debacle however, the Sinolorese gain a reputation of being two-faced.
The two ward off Heiml, which retreats because of Sinolor's unexpected help of Thassadia.
The war ends after only 9 months.
434 Years Ago (411 TC)
Sinol-Thassadi Relations After
Sinolor again tries to open trade with Thassadia, which still only grants limited trade to open between them.
Relations soon again grow frigid.
428 Years Ago (420 TC)
Wati Venture
Sinolor instead opens trade with Ralbinas.
The Wati family spearheads the effort, establishing the Wati Company.
420 – 683 TC
[Wowowow 263 years gap! Insert retroactive continuity here!]
Modern Era (683 TC – 805 TC, present day)
*more detailed info in “Last 100 Years” document.
Late 600s
Trade and relations finally open between Thassadia and Sinolor
Early 700s
Oathguards have gained more power, openly seek to gain more.
Placated by Thassadia's friendship and Heiml's silence, and feeling like they do not need the Oathguards as much anymore, some seek to suppress them again.
Knights of Florius order, consisting of haters, forms. They hate on anything supernatural/spiritual, in particular the Church of Thasa and Oathguards.
Mid 700s
Thassadia solicits Sinolor's Banjar province to come into its fold.
Sinolor is furious, closes diplomatic relations again.
Eleheiml's Call sounds, heralding a new era of chaos.
Mass defection of Sinolorese Oathguards to Heiml.
Traitors include Bocheul Yala.

!!Usage
{}//{TagName TiddlerName LabelText}//{}
* TagName - the tag to be toggled, default value "checked"
* TiddlerName - the tiddler to toggle the tag in, default value the current tiddler
* LabelText - the text (gets wikified) to put next to the check box, default value is '{TagName}' or '{TagName TiddlerName}'
(If a parameter is '.' then the default will be used)
* TouchMod flag - if non empty then touch the tiddlers mod date. Note, can set config.toggleTagAlwaysTouchModDate to always touch mod date
!!Examples
|Code|Description|Example|h
|{}|Toggles the default tag (checked) in this tiddler|<<toggleTag>>|
|{}|Toggles the TagName tag in this tiddler|<<toggleTag TagName>>|
|{}|Toggles the TagName tag in the TiddlerName tiddler|<<toggleTag TagName TiddlerName>>|
|{}|Same but with custom label|<<toggleTag TagName TiddlerName 'click me'>>|
|{}|dot means use default value|<<toggleTag . . 'click me'>>|
!!Notes
* If TiddlerName doesn't exist it will be silently created
* Set label to '-' to specify no label
* See also http://mgtd-alpha.tiddlyspot.com/#ToggleTag2
!!Known issues
* Doesn't smoothly handle the case where you toggle a tag in a tiddler that is current open for editing
* Should convert to use named params
